I can confirm that when installing Windows 8 64Bit, it is possible to install the Windows 7 64Bit Adaptec driver at the point in the install where the option is provided to add drivers. There is adapte firewire connection on the scanner but I have never used it. This thread is locked.
Windows 8 64Bit proceeds to install successfully. So I think this is possible with a modern computer to get your scanner to work. Thanks for marking this as the answer. Sorry this didn’t help.

December 28, So I went wiindows google to see if I could find installation directions, I kept finding incredibly dated threads that talked about floppy discs haha and all kinds of other things, then I found a cached website giving directions but they talked about how the Driver was imbedded into the OS installation disc.
